Foreign Affairs Ministry releases full list of nations with visa-free entry to Ghana

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has outlined the countries whose nationals will not require visas to enter the country, ahead of the Diaspora Summit 2025 scheduled for December 19 to 20 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

In a public announcement issued on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, the ministry said the update followed a pledge by the Minister for Foreign Affairs to grant free visas to all summit participants. The ministry further advised prospective participants to contact the nearest Ghanaian Embassy or Consulate to obtain their visas before travelling.

The statement explained that the gesture forms part of Ghana’s broader commitment to Pan-Africanism by encouraging the participation of Africans and people of African descent in discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation and building new partnerships.

As part of the update, the ministry published a list of nationalities that do not require visas to travel to Ghana due to existing reciprocal visa waiver agreements.

For holders of all passport types, the countries exempt from visa requirements include Barbados, Bahamas, Dominica, Mauritius, Seychelles, South Africa, Kenya, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Singapore, Sao Tomé and Príncipe, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Jamaica, Rwanda, Morocco, Guyana, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Malawi and Grenada.

Additionally, holders of diplomatic, official and service passports from Brazil, Colombia, China, Cuba, Germany, Sudan, Türkiye, Namibia, Hungary, Iran, India, Equatorial Guinea, St Kitts and Nevis, Suriname, Venezuela, Malta and the United Arab Emirates also enjoy visa-free entry to Ghana.

The ministry encouraged all eligible participants to register for the summit via the official portal before the deadline of Monday, December 8, 2025, and assured the public of its continued support in facilitating smooth travel arrangements for visitors.

It added that Ghana looks forward to welcoming delegates to the Diaspora Summit 2025 as part of efforts to strengthen global partnerships and deepen engagement with the African diaspora.

Join the Undergraduate Research Assistants/Interns for a fully paid summer position running 27 April – 14 August 2026 with The University of Calgary’s Department of Community Health Sciences. These roles support research on Black and Racialized Peoples’ Health and form part of the Black Youth Mentorship and Leadership Program, which includes weekly workshops and direct mentorship from postdoctoral fellows.

Duration: April 27 – August 14, 2026

Hours: 35 hrs/week | Compensation: $7,500 for 16 weeks

Positions available: 10

Students will assist with participant recruitment, survey administration, data collection (quantitative + qualitative), data analysis, literature reviews, writing, community engagement, knowledge mobilization, and other research tasks connected to major projects such as Transforming Lives of Black Youth and Precision Nutrition for Black Healthcare Professionals.

Ideal candidates are current undergraduate students (preferably 2nd–3rd year) in health or social sciences with a minimum GPA of 3.5, strong writing and technical skills, and lived or research experience with Black and racialized communities. Applicants must be able to work in person in Calgary, willing to travel for data collection, and eligible to work in Canada.

 About the Role

Students will support research addressing health inequities experienced by Black and racialized communities in Canada. Work includes:

Recruiting participants

Survey administration

Collecting quantitative & qualitative data

Data analysis & cleaning

Writing literature reviews and reports

Creating presentations

Supporting knowledge mobilization

Community engagement

Contributing to collaborative research projects

Research assistants will join one of two research areas:

• Transforming Lives of Black Youth (SSHRC Partnership Grant) — 7 positions

• Precision Nutrition Project for Black Healthcare Professionals — 3 positions

Eligibility & Preferences

Applicants must:

• Be a current undergraduate student (health sciences, social sciences, or related fields)

• Be registered as an undergraduate during Summer 2026

• Have a minimum GPA of 3.5

• Be Canadian citizen, PR, or legally permitted to work in Canada (international students not eligible)

• Be able to work in person in Calgary

• Be willing to travel (including cross-province travel for data collection)

Preferences:

• Students in 2nd or 3rd year

• Those with experience or lived experience related to Black and racialized communities

• Strong writing, communication, teamwork & time management skills

• Technical skills (e.g., infographic development, Microsoft Office)

• Prior research experience (asset)
